I was wondering if I should, cause to me it seems like if i had specific commands to give to him, then it would be easier to control him in any given situation.
BQ: If I put him through obedience training and attack training, will they negatively effect or offset each other? Is attack dog training basically obedience training with an edge?

Ok, well, I have an adorable little cockapoo…http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x225/lillady202/STA70536.jpg
He is cute, but he has a few problems. He’s a one year old and he is a very good jumper. He jumps up to our counter which is about three and a half feet off the ground and steals food, like he will grab it off. And he will grab shoes whenever somebody takes them off. He also runs out of the house a lot, and we STILL have to keep gates up to my dad’s office and to the stairs upstairs so he doesn’t escape up there! My friend’s dog learned not to go upstairs by the time she was one and I don’t know any dogs that steal shoes like Rocco (my puppy) and I know absolutely NO notorious jumpers!
So, my questions are…
How do I break him (train him) of jumping up to the table and the counters to grab food, how do I keep him from taking shoes, and how do I train him to stay away from upstairs so I don’t have to have a gate up all the time?
Please help!

Hi,
I would like to take our dog off the chain and let him play around in our yard…but he just bolts off running. and the faster I go he speeds up!! How do i train him to come when I call him or at least keep him in our yard?

My friend says that in order for him to train his chiuaua DOG properly his friends should act properly when they go over to his house and not play with or look at the dog too much, so that the dog doesn’t jump and act all crazy like it always does…so everyone is uncomfortable and hates going to visit him, this has been going on for TWO years now, my Q: Does training a dog involve training your friends and the people around you as well, such as telling people no to breath too hard or talk aloud and look at the dog, because the dog will react to their behaviour and act all crazy?

I have a lab puppy. He gets really excited and what not and I would like to know what I should do to train him like a seeing eye dog. I feel that these dogs are very smart and that if I train him to be a seeing eye dog it would help me in many situations even though I’m not blind. Also How long would it take me to train him? He is only 5 months old. Any help? List tips and websites to help me please!

I just got a new puppy but he is not potty trained and insists on going on the carpet. I cannot get a doggy door because I also have a cat. I am out about 8 hours a day. How can I at least get him to go on the wood floor or better yet wait until someone gets home.
